Call to schedule your visit! (978) 352-6660 Museum History 1967 - 2025 L.W. Bills Company was founded in 1925, but the museum itself was founded in 1967 by Harold Roeder. Harold and his family had a history of firefighting, with his grandfather serving in the Boston Fire Department and his father being a Lexington firefighter, and later, Fire Commissioner. Harold himself served as a firefighter for 44 years, including 36 years in the Georgetown Fire Department, eventually becoming Chief. When he first started collecting firefighting memorabilia, Edward Brass from B&B Engineering in Norwood, MA provided great help. He donated various pieces such as transmitters, electronic gongs, and firebox movements. As with any hobby, Harold soon found himself wanting more pieces and began attending auctions. He found that collecting firefighting memorabilia was not just a personal interest, but also helped preserve the history of firefighting and allowed others to see the progression of the industry. The museum has also been fortunate enough to receive old equipment from fire departments that have upgraded their systems. For instance, when the department in San Francisco, CA upgraded their fire alarm system, we acquired one of their old municipal fire alarm panels. More recently, the museum has worked with the Georgetown Fire Department to host school groups and educate children about firefighting. Even Smokey the Bear has made an appearance to help teach kids about fire safety. We look forward to visitors of all ages experiencing this incredible history. Our Collection

Bills Company has been involved in commercial and municipal alarm systems since 1925. We have been consulting, designing, and installing public safety equipment and dispatch centers throughout our years in business. We gained the reputation of doing the job and doing it right. Our firm manufactures many of our products and is also the main distributor of public safety and alarm equipment for the following manufacturers; Zetron radio control consoles, Zetron fire alerting equipment, Signal Communications radio and wireline receiving/transmitting equipment, M/K municipal fire alarm equipment and commercial fire alarm equipment. We have a full machine, sheet metal, and paint shop in Georgetown, Massachusetts. This allows us to custom fabricate all metal works needed for any job. In addition, we have a full complement of line trucks, hardware, and wire to service any municipal fire alarm system. L.W. Bills holds a Massachusetts State Bid contract that includes all our labor and materials, guaranteeing the best prices. Outside our regular services, L.W. Bills offers in-house classes on 100-milliamp fire alarms, radio box fire alarms, and commercial fire alarms. These classes are at no charge to fire and police personnel. What if I need service outside of operating hours? Yes. B&B Engineering acquired LW Bills in 2022. Any services you received as a B&B Engineering customer are still available. While our hours are 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday through Friday, we have an on-call technician for any service needs you may have on nights or weekends. Please be aware that overtime fees will apply. Can I get service today? Typically, we book 1-3 weeks in advance. However, cancellations may occur, or a job could be completed ahead of schedule. We will call you if a time becomes available, but we can't guarantee same-day service. Can a technician help me over the phone? Our technicians must be on-site to ensure any issue is fixed properly. We can use our expertise to give you as much information as possible over the phone, but all maintenance or repairs must be done in person. What payment methods do you accept? We can accept checks and Visa, Mastercard, or Discover card payments. There is a 4% processing fee for all credit card payments. We do not accept ACH payments at this time.
